If you did the top end to a normal accepted standard, run at about 800rmp for about 10 minutes. Check for leaks etc, let it cool down. On the next start-up do a runup and take-off as soon as practical. Fly it full throttle at low altitude for at least one hour. Further flights should still be at high cruise power settings. The higher the cylinder pressures, the faster it will seat. No you won't hurt the engine.Flying it at recommended rpm will probably hurt it more! One important thing is to have the oil hot before doing this or glazing could occur.Multi grade would be my choice. Full throttle will not hurt the engine if your cooling setup is in good shape. When the oil consumtion drops to norm, the rings are seated. This could take between 5-75 hours, maybe more. No two are the same and it's one of lifes little mysteries why this happens. Mineral oil or AD is the same crap other than ad oil has more cleaning agents, not more lube agents. Do not use Aero-shell 15/50 as it will never break in due to the formulation. If you are a die hard mineral fan, my recomendation would be Phillips 20/50 M. Sorry guys I guess I opened up another well beaten topic.(oil) Ron
